Legal Expenses Insurance Cover

We are happy to offer our Family & Individual member’s access to our Legal Expenses Insurance Cover. In order to access the Legal Expenses Insurance you must hold a current Family or Individual membership.

If you are already an existing member and now wish to avail of insurance, please contact the Membership team at membership@ifca.ie or call 01 459 9474.

The Irish Foster Care Association Insurance Scheme covers legal expenses incurred in the event of criminal proceedings being taken against foster carer or member of their family permanently residing within the household that you have named on the policy, in respect of an allegation being made. You will be covered for legal fees of up to €65,000.

Our Legal Insurance Covers You for the below:

  • You will be covered for legal fees of up to €65,000
  • Defence for your legal rights when dealing with the Gardaí where it is alleged that you have committed a criminal offence in connection with your activities as a foster carer
  • Defence for Criminal prosecutions or certain civil actions against you as member of the Irish Foster Care Association
  • Defence for Disciplinary hearings brought against you by a regulatory authority or professional body Telephone Helplines
  • Legal advice 24/7 confidential legal advice on any personal legal problem under the laws of the Republic of Ireland
  • Counselling 24/7 confidential counselling support in dealing with personal problems for you or your family. We provide these services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year
  • The policy also provides access to 24 hour legal advice helpline on any personal legal problem and a 24 hour counselling helpline.
  • Our Legal Expenses Insurance is just €40 annually and cover ceases on the day the policy lapses.
