Moving Forward - Birth Children

Nov 24th 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

The Irish Foster Care Association’s Moving Forward programme has offered foster carers a space to share their experiences, reflect on the many changes in their lives and come together in a supportive and confidential setting.  Workshops have been held around the country over the past 6 months

Now we are inviting adult children of foster carers to a special one-day event

ON SATURDAY 24TH NOVEMBER in The Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise

The day will aim to

  • Recognise and acknowledge the part birth children play in the fostering process
  • Provide an overview of change, and how grief and loss is viewed in the context of foster care
  • Validate and explore experiences that many may have already encountered
  • Explore what supports are available and what could be available for birth children who are part of a fostering family

The day will give participants the opportunity to consider their experiences as well as being informed through presentations and discussions. If you would like to attend this meeting but for whatever reason cannot attend, please leave your intention and details with the IFCA office so that we can contact you about your interest

This is a free event for adult birth children over 18. There is tea/coffee on arrival from 9.30am with a 10am start. A light lunch will be provided. Departure is at 4pm. You do not need to be an IFCA member to attend or have a parent who has attended the Moving Forward workshops – it is open to all

Booking Information:

Booking is essential as places are limited. Over 18’s only. Please indicate any special dietary requirements at the time of booking
