Presentation by Christine Enright - "Building self-esteem and a Positive identity in Developmentally Traumatised Children."
Date: Tuesday, March 6th
Time: 7:30pm - 10:00pm
Venue: The Royal Hotel, Bray. Powerscourt Suite (Ground Floor)
By Christina Enright – RN, BSc Psychology, Dip in Family Therapy, MA Child Psychotherapy, Trauma and Attachment Specialist, Consultant, Supervisor and Trainer.
Christina will deliver a presentation covering:
· What neuroscience and attachment research tells us about how trauma and lack of a secure attachment relationship impairs the development of a solid sense of self and self-esteem in a child.
· How foster carers can support these children to discover their strengths, to feel good about themselves and to develop better emotional regulation; in the process building on the child’s resilience to cope better in the face of life’s challenges.
The session will be interactive where Foster Carers are invited to discuss their personal experiences of Fostering in light of the information presented. Foster carers will also have an opportunity to explore and practice specific verbal communication strategies to support their foster children to become more emotionally resilient.
